My friend needs a stopgap for a year or so to wait for her credit to get better to purchase a new car. Her old car is breaking down more often, she wants to buy a used car, doesn’t want to lease. Wants to spend less than 5k. As far as possible repair costs are concerned, what is the cheapest, safest make/model to look for?

She needs enough room in the trunk to fit a wheelchair to transport her grandma, etc. She wants good gas mileage (30+). What is a reliable used car to buy that will work as well on it’s 100k’s as it did in it’s 10k’s?

My parents and I had a deal that if I got a perfect score on the SAT, I’d get any car I wanted (I was looking at a BMW 6-series). Instead of a 2400 (perfect), I got a 2340. My parents can absolutely afford to buy me a car (maybe not a $100,000 one, but a car nonetheless). We have an extra car that pretty much just sits in the garage, but my parents still refuse to let me drive it. How can I convince them to buy me a used car or let me drive their extra car?

I know used car dealers usually trade in different cars to have more variety but do they just buy cars too? I’m trying to sell one but I want to try to sell it to a dealer because it seems like I would get paid what it’s worth.

I am Italian and me and my friend are planning to do a road trip to the US next summer. We plan to first go to New York and then visit a couple states in one month.

We thought of renting but since we’re 22 it would be very expensive. We thought of buying a cheap car and before we leave sell it off. We would lose some money but I woundnt mind.

I have some questions:

- Can an non-US person buy a car?
- What can i buy with $2000? An old convertible muscle car?
- Is my Italian licence valid?
- Insurance or other stuff?
