Thanks, I did not know. At three songs, that seem to be more than past albums so I take it back - he sang lead 30% of the time on the final album!

Hey Benny,
got any “go away” from door to door?

He sang lead on 3 of them: double trouble, go away and everything you say - check out the video here for that song :)
You’re right - Benjamin didn’t get to sing lead enough.

I had no clue that Ben Orr sang this song also. The more I learn about this band, the more I realize the little that he sang lead, I like almost every song he sang. Did he sing any songs on Door to Door or did Ocasek just take over completely to the band’s detriment?

His voice was incredible, especially when he talked his words. Like in songs like “Cruiser” and “Down Boys” because he had to pull that voice up and out of himself.

There IS and will be, no other DECADE better than the 80’s and all the great genres of music being played
The CARS were a BIG part of it-
Today’s music–→ §uX.

Top 5 of all Cars Songs! A sleeper that got swept under the rug. Should have received more of the spotlight.

Have you watched Benjamin’s final interview with the band? It is on The Cars: Live from Germany, don’t recall the exact name of the DVD. It was an extra added to the release. It was so heartbreaking to see this once handsome strong man so sick and on death’s door. But he had the grace to be seen and say his peace with his band mates, wearing his beloved Brown’s jersey.

I have been a Cars fan since 1978, and this interview made BO even more revered to me.

Thanks for the vids.

I’m glad there are many who think Elliot Easton is one of the best. I think every guitar player appreciates his skill and finess.

I’ve been asking that same question myself. It’s certainly been long overdue!

A once-in-a-lifetime band - a killer songwriter (Ric), an awesome front man with an amazing voice (Ben), one of the best guitarists ever (Elliot), a Berklee-trained keyboardist (Greg), and a first-rate drummer and band stylist (David). When in the world are these guys going to be in RR Hall of Fame?
