Xavier H asked:

I have a 1987 Buick Lesabre Custom.I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel relay. After I finish installing all the parts I turned the ignition switch and my car started right up.I did this job Sunday October 22,2006.Since then my car has not been able to start up and the battery keeps running down. Can some one tell me why I am not able to start my car or why the battery keeps running down,The car has a full tank of gas?Never did lose any gas from changing out the fuel filter or fuel pump.

Did you install all the wiring correctly for your fuel pump? I’d check there first. Make sure none of the connections you made has a connection to ground . (ie verify that all connectors are covered and not in contact with the frame.)

Double check the relay, you may have a bad relay that is now stuck closed and thus draining your electrical system.

(Why did you switch the relay in the first place?)

Its probably your wiring. You might need to have a pro look at it and you should explain the situation to him.

Sometimes cars dont start because of the battery, alternator, or carberator. But since it happened around the time you have got a new furl pump, etc… I would say while installing, you (or whoever) most likely messed something up.

Try bleeding the air out of the fuel line through the air lock release valve on top of the motor.

I though this looked familiar. You were the guy with the blowing
fuse. What fixed that?

It’s hard to say what’s causing this problem now. Is the fuel getting to the cylinders?

Maybe it’s a spark issue.

If something is draining your battery, how fast? You can pull the battery ground off and connect a parking light bulb between the cable and the battery. If it lights, then something is draining the battery. You’ll have to pull fuses one at a time to find the bad circuit.

You might want to rename this thing Uncustom
