I took my car for an oil change and the car would not start after the oil was changed. Then the check engine light stayed on. On the way home the car was shifting hard. I have a 2000 Cadillac and it has never acted that way before. What did he do to the car?

Take it to the Cadillac dealership to find out for sure. Get a written estimate for repairs and an opinion on cause.

it may have been a coincidence. under certain conditions when a check engine lamp illuminates, the PCM will command the transmission pressure control solenoid to increase line pressure and or default to a second gear launch. Have the dealer check the code for you.
