alanine49 asked:

I recently hit a 2-door car on its side, not on the door but right behind it. It caused minimal scratches but left a big dent on the side of the car. I need some good ways to repair as much of the damage as possible myself so I don’t wind up spending a fortune to fix it. The dent is just one big clean dent, so I’m hoping I can get most if not all of the dent bumped out. A way to get rid of the small scratches would also be nice. Thank you.

you want to repair the car you hit.. or your car.. body work requires a lot of experience and training.. there is no way you can do this so it looks professional ok.

If the dent is not too deep then it might just be possible to
push it out from the other side after you remove the trim.

There are several possibilities:

- Find a PDR place (paintless dent repair). They are experienced in pulling dents where is there is no or minimal paint damage. Check internet or yellow page listings.

- Do it yourself if you know a little bit at least about removing the inside panel in the car to access the body panel. Use semi-soft tools made from wood or a rubber mallet and carefully push out the dent - without making new dents from the inside out. Sometimes a dent pulling tool will work by attaching it to the outside of the body panel and pulling the dent out. It is easy to make more small bumps, creases and dents when doing it yourself. Also, don’t overdo it or the result could be worse than before.

- The small paint damage mentioned can be carefully touched up with a matching paint touch-up pen.

Hope this helps and good luck !
