Im seriously interested in purchasing a used 2006 Maxima SL and after doing some research on reliability and safety for the 04-06 (only ones w/ 5sp auto) I found a recall regarding the rear subframe that could fail on the 06. It stated that dealers inspected potential cars and replaced parts as needed. I dont want to waste my time calling nissan. Please help! The dealer that has the car will not hold the car for me. Has anyone had to deal w/ this recall?

ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE REAR SUBFRAME MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED INCORRECTLY, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A ***** IN A BRACKET WHICH HOLDS PART OF THE REAR SUSPENSION.
Consequence:
IF THE BRACKET IS CRACKED, THE STABILITY OF THE VEHICLE MAY BE AFFECTED UNDER SEVERE DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS COULD LEAD TO A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE REAR SUBFRAME TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS MANUFACTURED INCORRECTLY AND REPLACE IT, IF NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 27, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.
