Mr. Sean asked:

I had just got out of the car and went in the house. about 10 mins later the guy next door knocked and said my car was on fire. while watching the firemen put out the blaze, my neighbor said that there was a recall on 98 buick regals that came out earlier this year. i checked on the internet and found this to be true. the recall was due to oil leaking into the manifold and causing a fire. Recall #55683 http://www.internetautoguide.com/auto-recalls/09-int/1998/buick/regal/index.html

Try to use the diagnostic tools and check what the problem is.
is a professional website in car diagnostic tools. There are also the right tools for Buick Regal. You will find your necessary tools and you will think it is a very useful web for you.

Call them, or get your insurance carrier to notify them.
Good luck, glad no one was sitting inside or driving.

Well, since there was a recall, on this model, it will do you no harm, to contact your policy holder, and, see what, if anything, they have to say. It wouldn’t hurt, either, either, to contact Buick, directly, and see what they have to say, as well. Depending upon how bad the damage to your car is, they may very well, buy you a different car, or, if the damage is repairable, then, they will go that route. So, if I were you, I would contact your policy holder, and, they may contact Buick, themselves. After that, you’ll just have to wait and see just what happens, nothing more you can really do, actually. I’ll tell you one thing, I wouldn’t buy another Buick, like that one, again, though. Of coarse, a person can have problems, with any car. I have had Ford, Dodge, and, others, with recalls, on them, as well. Best of luck to you.

Your insurance company may but GM is not likely to without a lawsuit. They would have covered any needed repairs covered under the recall but they are not going to replace a burned car without a lot of hassle.
