In 1970’s Ford Pinto was causing explosion when being hit from rear even as slow as 10 mph. Many Americans suffered from this incident from being permanently crippled and death. The CEO of this so called American Ford company had a secret document that was finally released in the 80’s that they knew about this problem and didn’t want to recall the Pintos but rather would pay off law-suits to the Americans because it was a cheaper way to go!!! They claim that each American life was worth about 200K if they were to get sued!
Chrysler had their workers come out of their factory and beat up on a Honda car with a baseball bats. They spat, kicked and lit fire on a Honda car because they were losing business to the Japanese in the 70’s!? Instead of taking care of business by competing they were taking it out on a Jap CAR??!!! Iacocca the CEO of Chrysler went as low as making commercials on how the Japs/Asians are small people so they make small cars and that Americans should stick with the American cars! This is the mentality of American Automotive industry, instead of competing by fixing the cars they were trying to brain wash the loyal American consumers!
So isn’t this Karma nipping back at the collective people who are selfish and insincere, backstabbing toward their very own people called Americans?
To Shots: Yes, the CEO’s of 70’s era are probably no longer there but the mentality is still there. They still follow the same tradition of cutting corners and charging high prices, lying to the Americans, and who knows what sneaking insincere things they have done to the Americans and yet they brain-wash to think that we should support them because it’s American?! So they have no interest in protecting the Americans whatsoever! Just imagine if your love ones were to buy a car that’s explosive and u dont’ know it but the CEO of the company does and wouldn’t recall it just so they can save money for themselves! Is that American way? Is that why we should support them? Thanx for answering. Merry X-mas!
To Friar Timothy: Well said! But you forgot to mention about gas prices. We must also stop paying $5 for a gallon of gas ever again! Even now it’s still too expensive. I don’t believe oil is so limited that justifies $140 per barrel! It’s around $40 now so you see if it justifies to be around $140 how could it dropped like this! We been getting soooooo ripped off. In Vanesuela, they only pay around 25 cents per gallon of gas! We should have to only pay no more than $1 per gallon for another 50 years! They it can go up to possible $150 or so but no more! Thanx for answering! Merry X-mas.

yup, but it’s the unions that are going to take it in the collective ears
that wouldn’t be karma, because the people involved back then still have their money. the workers and families of the the big 3 now are gonna lose their jobs, foreclose on homes and go hungry during christmas and well into the next year. these people are innocent of said atrocities. how do you figure that for karma?? i think if the ceo’s of that era were to get run down by a honda or die in a pinto fire, that would be karma.
Not Karma necessarily, These companies are ultimately run by humans. Humans are the one who make decisions to buy private jets and live high on the hog. The only people who should revel in their demise are the ones who don’t own boats, houses, cars and such that they can’t afford. And, by the way, if you have taken out loans for these items….you can’t afford them. You may be able to comfortably pay for them over time (or not, as many people have discovered) but you cannot truly afford them. The banks that loaned you the money are the ones that could afford them, thats how you got that shiny new toy.
Hey, I have a mortgage, I’m not trying to be all high and mightly, I am just saying that some of the reasons that the big car companies are going under are the same reasons many many Americans are losing everything they have (or never really had and got taken away).
Living above their means, not planning for bad times, or just the future in general.
That being said, the car companies have definately not treated their customers right. Lying to them (Pintos, etc) and cutting corners to build cheaper vehicles while still charging insane prices.
That’s why Toyota and Honda are outselling them like mad.
I do not think its just the big 3 but all large industries of the world !
Take the housing industry, they decided to tell everyone their homes (worth $75k in real) are worth $350k and they convinced not only the buyers but the lenders and everyone concerned…..they sold millions of these overprised homes and now they are not selling anything, lenders are losing money, builders are shutting down and homes sit empty !
What is happening is nothing but the true market correcting itself.
95% of the people of the world are consumers, the 5% of business owners and CEO’s have been screwing the population for decades……well its reached the climax and now everything must return to normal.
Hopefully when its all said and done, we consumers will have learned our lessons and will not allow this to happen again ! WE must stop paying $30,000 for that $10,000 car, we must stop paying $350,000 for the $75,000 home.
It’s karma alright…but unfortunately, it’s on such a large scale that people who did nothing but try to earn an honest living are getting creamed by it too.
I don’t know if Karma is the reason or not. Endless union corruption, unimaginative and flawed designs, and prices that were far too high probably played more direct roles than Karma.
