The breathers….

Yes not enough hydrogen in most cases. It’s the times when there is enough that ****. Once is enough.

Anyway this guy has bad technique, don’t trust him, this isn’t a good video.

first…Pop the caps?!?

second… there is not enought hydrogen produced to explode…the hydrogen is enought ify ou are charging a battery. but outside and jump starting a car will not produce enough.

1. With the caps sealed if enough hydrogen is produced and presure builds up the battery will explode throwing acid into your face.

2. If the connection is near the battery, if a spark is produced when removing the connection the hydrogen itself can ignite.

3. It’s fact. It happens.

Wrong. Mechanics know how to do it right because they’ve seen their friends do it wrong and become acid face.

Mechanics have been doing it right for years, this guy needs to remove this dangerous method.

Pop the caps on the battery so that hydrogen produced has somewhere to go. No sparks near the caps! Thus the reason for connection away from the battery.

What an idiot. His first two connections are incorrect. I believe he partially completed a circuit right off the bat. All he needed to do was tap the clamps and I believe (im not sure) he would have been able to short out the battery causing an explosion. The jumper cables I would guess have low resistance in order to move charges to the dead battery, so i think he would have created a short circuit.

the car manual is showing you the new “safe”way for anyone that is older and are mechanically inclined for the least bit, all you need to do is connect the cables. the car will not explode. the guy in the vid has prob been a mechanic for a long time and knows the old way to do it.

some of you guys are right, it should be ++,- block (or ground) The reason being not mainly because of a potential explosion but because these new cars have so many computer that hooking the up ++ - - can run too much power to certain computers and relays and short them out. Someone should do a video response to this video so people know how to properly hook them up…SAFELY

It says + +, - block in my car manual. Now I’m not sure what to do:)

I thought the correct method is not [+, +, -, -] but rather [+, +, -, block].
I’ve read that hooking up the batteries in series like in the first scenario (and in the movie) could create a potential of explosion.
