That is an ignorant “blanket” statement. If you find a good technician, keep going there. Doesnt matter dealer or independent. The truth is most techs ****. You are lucky to find a good technician no matter where you go.

This happens on toyotas. I did mine i grabbed wrong plug. Drained the auto ****** fluid it looked brownish lol. Figured out what id done then drained engine oil. You have to uses Toyota fluid in yota trannys! semi synthetic. Being on my back low to ground makes changing them tougher but my ****** was happy i changed out 3.6ish quarts.

I had good times and bad, It’s not the skill or knowledge if you have it, you have it. Its the business side of the industry I dont like. I worked for a GM/Toyota dealer for 15 years, its a rough gig.

Low pay, poor benefits, no respect and people dont trust you, dealers want you to finish a 4 hour job in 2 hours constantly changing technology, etc.

too true, I am going for an apprenticeship, it is definately an awesome skill to have and as with anything money flows if you enjoy it, no matter if your a cleaner or a lawyer you can make absolutely fantastic money in anything, I am sick of hearing the usual: the money is **** blah blah they are the people who place money over knowledge first and get no where or get somewhere though will never be happy or content. there is alot of science to automobiles, I think its a beautiful thing!

I have great respect for mechanics. I’m in healthcare in a great environment, pay, and job security. However, I think mechanics is part art and science. Cars are awesome!
