My car has recently been sputtering after I drive for a little while when I accelerate. My manager says it means I have oil on my spark plugs and need new ones…how much will this cost me?

You know how when a shop says it takes 2.5 hours to do a repair on a car or some such timeframe? Is there somewhere online to find that info for different cars or is it just you have to take their word on it? I’ve had 1 mechanic tell me 1.25 hours to change the same part on same car that another mechanic tells me is 2.4 hours, so is there somewhere to look this up to see if they are padding time or maybe cutting me a break and shaving it off? The most current thing I need done is a timing belt replaced on a 91 nissan maxima sohc. 6 cyl

I am looking for a two car garage with a lift in central NJ to rent that is cheap, or a warehouse where it’s possible to work on cars.

I recently hit a 2-door car on its side, not on the door but right behind it. It caused minimal scratches but left a big dent on the side of the car. I need some good ways to repair as much of the damage as possible myself so I don’t wind up spending a fortune to fix it. The dent is just one big clean dent, so I’m hoping I can get most if not all of the dent bumped out. A way to get rid of the small scratches would also be nice. Thank you.

Hopefully this will be answered by those experienced in the business. From recent experience from two dealers it seems that when I brought my auto in for a repair (once a recall, another a warranty), not long if not immediately afterwards something new goes wrong with my truck or car. Of course it requires a dealer only supplied part and not covered under a warranty. It is already hard to trust new car dealers and this just makes me further suspicious of the dealerships practices.

My friend needs a stopgap for a year or so to wait for her credit to get better to purchase a new car. Her old car is breaking down more often, she wants to buy a used car, doesn’t want to lease. Wants to spend less than 5k. As far as possible repair costs are concerned, what is the cheapest, safest make/model to look for?

She needs enough room in the trunk to fit a wheelchair to transport her grandma, etc. She wants good gas mileage (30+). What is a reliable used car to buy that will work as well on it’s 100k’s as it did in it’s 10k’s?
