I don’t want car payments so I’m planning on paying cash for a used car. I saw a 1999 Mazda 626 with 156,000 miles. It’s $2,000. I haven’t gone to test drive the car yet. Does this car seem like a good buy? I don’t know much about cars which is why I am asking.

Also, I’ve been reading books on buying cars so I can become more knowledgeable!

I’ve googled some seat covers and such but haven’t liked what I’ve seen.
I want some cute, girly car seat covers, steering wheel cover, mats, etc.
I went to Wal*Mart and Target today but they didn’t have much of a selection.
Does anyone recommend a place online or store?
I live in TX and just bought the car it’s kinda dull.. I want to add some pump and color to it.
Thanks so much!!

I’ll be visiting CA this summer for 3 months (tourist visa) Having no car is not an option there. Renting for such a period would be expensive (but if there is no choice I’ll do that) so I was wondering if I can buy one. The problem is that I won’t have permanent residency and Social Number. I do have international driving licence and more than 25 years:)

I was thinking of buying car between 1500-2500 usd. And selling it for 500-1000 usd cheaper at the end of the stay.
Regarding legal things I was wondering is it is possible to do same thing as in my country. Buying car, not formally changing the owner (plates+registration), buying necceserry insurance and use it as it is. But I’m really not sure if it can work out.

Of course I’ll send questions to rental comapanies for special prices for such a long rental. This seems to be muuuch easier.

We need a second car for both my husband and I to drop our kids off at daycare and go to work. We figured out our bills and can olny aford the insurance on another car, not another car payment. I have heard that people donate their cars to the salvation army and was wondering who they sell them to and what I need to do to buy one. Or if anyone in the lansing mi area that has a cheap, good running one for sale, I would be willing to look at it.

To help save drivers’ time and money, while being environmentally efficient, auto experts are busting industry myths on car maintenance. In fact, most manufacturers recommend more than 5,000 miles between oil changes instead of the traditional 3,000.

Making this adjustment can save eight to ten gallons of oil a year and put as much as $76 back in your pocket. Following new recommendations can also help improve the environment.

Here are some more of the most common maintenance myths that have been adjusted based on new technologies:

- Tune-ups. Today’s engines have computer-monitored systems that still need to be checked but don’t need a traditional tune-up every few thousand miles.
- Wheel Alignment. It’s not always necessary to have them aligned every time they are rotated.
- Unnecessary services. Routine maintenance services such as fuel injector cleaning and transmission fluid flushes aren’t necessary as often anymore.
